Zero tolerance to harassment and bullying. |
Due to recent events on this forum, we have now imposed a zero tolerance to harassment and bullying. All reports will be treated seriously, and will lead to a permanent ban of both membership and IP address.
Any member blatantly corresponding in a deliberate and provoking manner will be removed from the forum as quickly as possible after the event.

We are all here to communicate and enjoy the various discussions and information on the Anglo Zulu War of 1879. Opinions will vary, you will agree and disagree with one another, we will have debates, and so it goes.
There is no excuse for harassment or bullying of anyone by another person on this site.
The above applies to the main frame areas of the forum.

| Peter Vaughan who portrayed Quartermaster Bloomfield in Zulu Dawn has died at the age of 93 years.
Vaughan also be remembered as Grouty in Porridge and more recently as Maester Aemon in A Game of Thrones.
If I can crib a phrase from the latter His watch is over...

| Another great actor gone to the great stage above. He played a good part in Zulu Dawn. RIP |

| Incidentally Peter Vaughan lived in Uttoxeter.
His adopted father was a bank manager in the town.....you see we have all here....Alan Gardners Gt Gt (maybe another Gt, I dunno) grandfather, Samuel Johnson's famous penance, SRB1965, Adam Peatty and last surrender of a field army in the Civil Wars (in England), have I mentioned SRB1965 and finally Butcher Cumberland and his army doing an overnighter here (hosted by Alan Gardners whatever gt gr grandfather....)

| Another face from my chilhood gone. Very sad I just hope someone made sure that the lid of his coffin was screwed down correctly as per his Lordships orders. RIP Peter. Kate |

| I recall him best in The Remains of the Day. The sideways glance he gives at the top of the servants' stairs when he's accepted for the post of footman speaks volumes. It's a look you can find among strangers on the streets which always seems to have a story behind it, if only it were known. Funnily enough he played a similar role in An Ideal Husband which I saw a couple of days ago on TV. A brilliant actor, one of the best of his generation. |
