Jan 11th 1879 and the British Invasion commenced. This photo was taken some 130 years later around dawn on the 22nd January.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

It captures some of the etherial quality of the location and time.

Actually, where exactly was the photo taken? At the crossing point above RD? The mist somewhat veils the location's identity.

As the river bends there is a small island, thats the actual Rorke's Drift just below Shiyane. So the photo was taken 100 yards upstream from the drift with the deep water pool just behind me to the right.
